This, my friends, is all that's currently left of The Ongoing Moment.
In June 2008 I assembled the band, featuring fellow labelmates from Underlapper, Comatone, The Longest Day, Clairaudience, restream & ii while Feral Media's design collaborators, The Sopp Collective pulled together the visual artists, who included We Buy Your Kids, Ben Burrito, Ash Bolland, Toby Jones, Shane Rozario, Julie Depaoli as well as Sopp members Thorsten Kulp, Katja Hartung & Nelson Alves.
Over a single weekend we recorded, mixed and mastered the album. It was a grand experiment in what I called "rapid composition". While the band was making music, a large team of visual artists interpreted the sounds and track titles into a series of installations, art objects and posters. These were packaged with the physical version of the album and displayed at an art installation on the following weekend.
Recorded, mixed, edited, illustrated, sewn, photographed, built, designed, devised, mastered, compiled, uploaded and exhibited as part of Underbelly Public Arts Lab + Festival, in Bay 20 at Carriageworks on Saturday July 5 and Sunday July 6, 2008. The project was originally titled Alpen's Working Bee.
